Espresso love →
“Black as the devil, Hot as hell, Pure as an angel, Sweet as love.” —Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord Ah, espresso. How do I love thee? A short black, in the demitasse cups with saucers at home. Savoured slowly. A long black, either at home or out and about, served as a shot of espresso in a slightly larger cup, with hot water on the side for me to decide how much to...

The view from my window - late at night →
The moonlight streams into my room. Even with a tripod and a delayed shutter release there was noticeable movement with the speed of the clouds. Powered by b2evolution.

“Excuse me. Have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car? “Thank you.” “Bloody Torchwood!” Yah! It’s back. The Doctor (not that one), the carer, the technician, and the eye candy. “As long as it’s not in an office. Some fetishes should be kept to yourself.”

Niche Cliques →
I listen to a lot of podcasts and the two words that jar me most with the American pronunciation are niche and clique. Why do words change from their common pronunciation to a phonetic one. I prefer niche to rhyme with the last syllable of pastiche and not bitch. Likewise clique has a mystique that click lacks. I understand about clarks and clerks and similar words, and they don’t bother me;...

Planning your day →
This is something I should be doing more of. I already try to plan each day in the morning, but doing it when I go home (while my brain is still active) means I should be able to set up enough hooks to allow me to hit the ground running when I get in.

2008 off to a good start →
It’s been a relaxing start to the new year, no hang over and no tasks that just have to be done. Currently enjoying a beer while sitting on the lawn in the dappled shade of a tree, connected via wifi, with Jack nearby keeping an eye on me. I did clean the cars while catching up on Hak.5, and that’s enough work for the day. As I sit typing this I can hear bird song in the bush behind...
